Laser hair removal uses concentrated light energy to target the melanin within the hair follicle. The light is absorbed by the follicle and converted into heat, which damages the follicle's ability to produce new hair while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed. Because hair grows in different stages, the laser is most effective during the active growth phase (anagen). Since not all hairs are in this phase at the same time, a series of treatments is needed to achieve the best possible results.
Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle, meaning the laser will only be attracted black or brown hair. Because of this, blond, grey, white and ginger hair cannot be picked up by the laser. Before your appointment, shave the treatment area 12–24 hours in advance and avoid waxing or plucking as the hair follicle must remain intact for the laser to work. Our advanced laser technology is safe and effective for all skin types. To protect your skin, please avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning bed, hot tubs, saunas, and anything that is very heat excessive for 48 hours after your treatment. Please note that tanning beds and sun exposure must be avoided both before and after your laser treatment.
The number of laser hair removal treatments needed varies from person to person and depends on factors such as the treatment area, hair thickness, and hormonal influences. Most clients require between 6–12+ treatments to achieve optimal results. Laser hair removal is only effective during the hair's active growth phase, and because only a 30% of your hairs are in this phase at any given time, multiple treatments are necessary to target each follicle as it becomes active. Treatments are typically scheduled every 4–8 weeks or longer, depending on how fast or slow your hair growth is and the area being treated, to coincide with the hair growth cycle. With each session, you can expect hair to become finer, lighter, and less dense. Once your treatment series is complete, many clients enjoy long-lasting hair reduction, although occasional maintenance treatments may be recommended over time to address new hair growth caused by hormonal changes or the body's natural hair growth cycle.
